Must-Know Tips for Traveling with SureSmile Clear Aligners

SureSmile has quickly become one of the most exciting braces alternatives out there, allowing patients to achieve straighter and healthier smiles without the difficulties that come with traditional braces. However, can this method remain effective, and just as convenient, while patients are on vacation? Here are some tips to keep in mind if you’re about to go on vacation and are worried about your SureSmile treatment’s progress.

Tip #1. Pack the Essentials

If you’re traveling abroad for an extended vacation or simply going away for a long weekend, you’re probably thinking about everything you need to pack, and you shouldn’t forget your dental essentials. A travel toothbrush, floss, and mouthwash are key items to bring with you in a carry-on or backpack, but beyond that, you also need to bring your next set of aligners with you in case you need to change while you’re away—or if you lose your current set.

Tip #2. Don’t Stray from Your Routine

Vacation is a great time to relax and leave all your usual responsibilities behind at home, but this doesn’t apply to your oral hygiene or SureSmile treatment! Be sure that you continue to brush twice a day, floss regularly, and rinse after eating or drinking anything. Remember, it’s easy to lose track of time or become distracted while traveling, so set a timer on your watch or phone if you need help staying on top of things.

Tip #3. Make Sure the Tap Water Is Safe

Depending on where you’re heading, you might need to think twice about the water supply you’ll be using to brush your teeth. You can usually look up this information beforehand. If you’re unable to drink the tap water at your destination, you won’t be able to brush or rinse with it, either. When in doubt, use bottled water on your toothbrush or to rinse your aligners off.

It’s also not a bad idea to schedule a pre-vacation appointment or to let your provider know you’ll be away; this can go a long way towards ensuring that your treatment stays on schedule. SureSmile is meant to be a highly convenient treatment, but you can’t throw all care and caution out the window just because you’re on vacation! That said, follow these tips and stay the course, and you’ll be enjoying a straighter smile before you know it.
