Meet Our Talented Dentists Near Vinings
Dr. Carlisle Vason
Passionate about improving the function, aesthetics, and overall health of a patient’s smile, Dr. Carlisle Vason Jr. is a personable and trustworthy dentist near Vinings who enjoys working with his hands and building relationships.
Graduating from the University of Georgia, he discovered an interest in dentistry late in his college career. Deciding it was the right path for him, he enrolled in dental school at the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University. He earned the Junior Esthetic Dentistry Award and the Senior Comprehensive Case Award.
After completing his dental degree, he went on to finish an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Residency at the Charlie Norwood VA Hospital. There, he received additional training in dental implant placement, IV sedation, comprehensive care, and periodontal surgeries.
Once he chose to pursue private practice, Dr. Vason continued to pursue additional educational courses (and still does today). He has completed courses at the Pankey Institute, led by some of the best clinicians in the U.S. He also remains a member of the Hinman Dental Society.
Dr. Vason is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
When he’s not busy in the office, you’ll likely find him with his wife, Kelsey, and their two children, Shepherd and Bailey. He enjoys running, yoga, playing basketball, hiking, cooking, and hosting friends.
Dr. Kristen Grisham
Relationship building and creating beautiful smiles are the two key reasons Dr. Kristen Grisham continues to work in the field of dentistry. The opportunity to help someone better understand their oral health and how to maintain it is a joy she cherishes, and it’s why she chose to become a dentist.
After attending Kennesaw State University, she attended the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University. Before entering dental school, she worked as a dental assistant for three years. However, once she graduated, she completed her Advanced Education in General (AEGD) Residency.
Her education hasn’t stopped, though. Dr. Grisham has also completed courses through the Pankey Institute and is certified in Zoom! teeth whitening. She’s also an Invisalign/SureSmile provider.
Always looking for ways to improve her skills and talent, she remains an active member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, and the American Academy of Facial Aesthetics.
Outside of the office, Dr. Grisham spends much of her time with her husband, Sean, and their two daughters, two dogs, and a cat. She also enjoys watching movies.

I found Vason Family Dentistry while experiencing tooth pain after years of putting off going to the dentist. Despite not being a patient, Dr. Grisham quickly worked me into her schedule, diagnosed the cause of my pain, got me into routine care, and addressed a few other dental issues (all without judgment!). Dr. Grisham and the team have gotten to know me, taken the time to explain treatment needed and answered my questions. Everyone I encountered in the office was an absolute pleasure to be around and made the whole experience not just tolerable but (dare I say) enjoyable. I actually look forward to my next dentist appointment! I highly recommend Vason Family Dentistry!

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a dental checkup & cleaning cost in Vinings?
It is believed that a general dental checkup and cleaning in the United States can cost between $200 and $350. The reason is that these visits require several steps, including:
- A discussion about your health history and any concerns you have
- A thorough examination provided by a dentist near Vinings
- A professional teeth cleaning performed by a dental hygienist
- Dental X-rays
- Oral cancer screening
As the leading service used for early detection of common oral health problems, it is in your best interest to keep these six-month appointments. Not only will they protect and improve your smile, but they will also keep you from spending even more on oral healthcare services. Most dental insurance companies will agree to pay 80-100% of the total cost of these visits.
How can I find a female dentist?
The best place to start when looking for a female dentist is Google. You can use search terms, like “female dentist near me” or “female dentist near Vinings,” to help narrow your results. Surprisingly, in the United States, one-third of all dentists are female, and more than half of all dental school students are female.
When clicking on the website of a dental practice, you can usually find more information about their dentist(s) by navigating to the “Meet the Dentist(s)” page. This is where you’ll learn more about Vason Family Dentistry’s own Dr. Kristen Grisham. Completing dental school at the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, she finished an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency before attending the Pankey Institute. Dr. Grisham is also certified in Zoom! Teeth whitening and is an Invisalign/SureSmile provider.
How much does it cost to get a tooth pulled without insurance?
If you learn that you need to have a tooth pulled, one of the first questions you may ask is, “How much is it going to cost?” The price will often vary depending on where your dentist’s office is located, your oral and overall health, and how you plan to pay for treatment.
In the United States, the average price for a tooth extraction is between $150 and $400. You will also need to consider whether you receive any kind of sedation, the complexity of your case, and if you need additional procedures (i.e., gum disease treatment, bone grafting, etc.).
If you have insurance, you are encouraged to use it. However, if you are without insurance, be prepared to inquire about dental financing to help lower your upfront costs.
What do you do if you can’t afford a dentist?
Thinking you cannot afford to see a dentist may cause you to skip an appointment or habitually reschedule until it’s a “better time.” Delaying your regular visits every six months can lead to more serious oral health problems over time. This means you’ll likely pay more for the services you receive.
Using your dental insurance, if you have it, is essential, as this will help you save the most money on your oral healthcare visits. However, even if you are without dental insurance, you can ask your dentist near Vinings if they provide alternative options, like financing or an in-house membership plan.
Vason Family Dentistry is pleased to partner with CareCredit to make paying for treatment easy and stress-free. Similar to a credit card, you pay the full amount with your CareCredit card but make payments over time until your bill is completely paid off. They provide many different low and no-interest plans to choose from, so you can stay within budget and worry less.
