Why Did You Decide To
Become a Dentist?

Dr. Vason decided to become a dentist late in his college career. Initially, he majored in Finance and International Affairs, but he found himself wanting to do something more tangible. He felt that dentistry would allow him to work with his hands and build relationships at the same time. After realizing that dentistry checked all of his boxes, he dove in head first!

Where Did You Study
Dentistry?

After graduating from the University of Georgia, Dr. Vason went on to earn his dental degree from the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University. While there, he earned the Junior Esthetic Dentistry Award and the Senior Comprehensive Case Award for completing a full-mouth rehabilitation for a patient with severe tooth wear. He was also inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society, which is a distinction reserved for only the top 12% of each graduating class.

Following dental school, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Residency at the Charlie Norwood VA Hospital where he received additional training in comprehensive care, dental implant placement, IV sedation, and various periodontal surgeries.

Since working in private practice, he has consistently sought out opportunities to grow as a clinician and leader. He studies annually at the renowned Pankey Institute with some of the best clinicians in the country, and he’s a member of the Hinman Dental Society. Located in Atlanta, the Hinman Dental Society is dedicated to continuing education, and hosts one of the largest continuing education conferences in the country every spring.

On top of this, Dr. Vason is also a member of several professional organizations:

  • American Dental Association
  • Georgia Dental Association
  • Academy of General Dentistry
  • International Congress of Oral Implantologists

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Dr. Vason met his wife, Kelsey, on her first weekend as a freshman at UGA, and he finally asked her out after four years of friendship. Today, they are married and have a son, Shepherd, and a daughter, Bailey.  Their energetic Vizsla also keeps them on their toes during any down time. In his free time, Dr. Vason likes to do anything that keeps him moving, including running, practicing yoga, playing basketball, or hiking. On a typical day, you’ll find him on a run, pushing his son in a stroller. Georgia will probably be pulling everybody along. To relax, he enjoys reading, and he and Kelsey like to cook and host friends on the weekends.
